Our Story
Built for Surfers Who Still Want to Lift
Most gyms along the Sri Lankan coast are afterthoughts — a few rusted dumbbells in a humid shed, wedged between surf shops and guesthouses. We knew traveling athletes deserved better. Gym Era was built from the ground up for people who take their training seriously, whether they're home or 10,000 kilometers away.
We're the only fully air-conditioned gym on the Ahangama coast, and that's not an accident. It's a statement. When you're surfing at dawn and need to move iron in the afternoon, you shouldn't have to choose between productivity and sweat-soaked misery. Every piece of equipment here was chosen with intention — for the serious lifter, the dedicated traveler, the athlete who refuses to let a surf trip derail their progress.
Flexible day passes, weekly rates, and monthly memberships mean you train on your terms, not ours. Whether you're passing through for three days or settling in for a season, Gym Era is your gym on the road.
04 Principles
Everything You Need. Nothing You Don't.
Serious equipment, a cool environment, and passes that flex around your itinerary.
- 01
Full A/C, Always
Train in genuine comfort — our fully air-conditioned floor means heat never becomes an excuse to skip a session.
- 02
Serious-Lifter Equipment
Free weights, barbells, racks, and machines chosen for performance, not aesthetics — so your training stays on track wherever you are.
- 03
Passes That Fit Your Itinerary
Day, week, and monthly passes with no lock-in. Drop in for a single session or claim the gym as your base for the whole season.
- 04
A Gym You Can Trust
Clean, maintained, and consistently reliable — because when you're traveling, the last thing you need is an unpleasant surprise at the door.
What Travelers Are Saying
“I've trained in gyms across Southeast Asia and Sri Lanka, and Gym Era genuinely surprised me. The A/C alone is worth it after a four-hour surf session — everything is well-maintained and the squat rack was free when I needed it.”
Marcus T.
Traveling Surfer, Australia
“I was in Ahangama for three weeks and trained here six days a week. The weekly pass made perfect sense, the equipment is legit, and I didn't lose a single kilo of muscle on the trip. That says everything.”
Priya N.
Backpacker & Powerlifter, UK
“Finally — a gym on the coast that doesn't feel like an afterthought. Real barbells, real plates, real air conditioning. I picked up a monthly pass on day two and never looked back.”
